Branch calls for Hope not Hate as members
urge voters NOT to vote for the BNP
Branch members handed out leaflets to voters in Inverurie
on Saturday 1st May 2010 and urged them not to vote for the BNP
in the forthcoming General Election on Thursday 6th May.
Kate
Ramsden, Branch Chair said, "We are appalled that the British
National Party are standing in the North East of Scotland and
we urged voters not to be fooled by them. They masquerade as mainstream
candidates, but that hides their true colours. They are racists
and their policies are racist.
"Their policies say that the only native Britons are white
Britons and that they should be given priority for jobs. They
say that migrant workers steal jobs. In fact, reports show that
immigration to Scotland sustains our economy and supports our
public services. Migrant workers are essential people doing essential
jobs.
"Our
NHS would collapse if the BNP had their way and sent all our migrant
workers home. NHS doctors, dentists and others all include large
numbers of overseas workers," she added.
"The BNP is a constant threat to our communities, stirring
up hatred and division. UNISON believes in a dynamic and inclusive
multi cultural society, one that values all its members equally
regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or
disability. UNISON represents all of us. The BNP does not."
VOTE TO STOP THE BNP ON MAY 6th.
