Branch Ballot on Single Status

Letter from Branch Secretary

Dear Colleague

ABERDEENSHIRE COUNCIL'S SINGLE STATUS PROPOSAL

You will recall from our last Single Status Update that UNISON Aberdeenshire had intended to delay our ballot until November. This was to allow more time for negotiations with the Council in the light of the comments made by you in the consultation period.

These negotiations have now finished and the Council has made some positive changes to aspects of the proposal relating to job mapping and terms and conditions. [These were set out in the Council's recent Single Status Newsletter to Employees]

It was also essential a full Equality Impact Assessment was completed and that an Appeals Procedure was agreed. Both have been done.We believe this amended proposal is the best that can be obtained by negotiation.

It is now time for us to seek your views.

Overleaf (click here) you will see a summary of the main points for and against the proposal. Please consider these carefully and complete your ballot paper. Return it to the Freepost address (no stamp required) by 12 noon on Friday 19 January 2007.

This is one of the most important decisions you will be asked to take relating to your job, I urge you to use your vote.

Yours sincerely

Bob Revie
