UPDATE 26 FEBRUARY 2007
ABERDEENSHIRE COUNCIL SINGLE STATUS
Unions and council agree to move to implementation
stage
On 21 February the Joint Trade Unions met with Aberdeenshire Council
to discuss single status. At this meeting the GMB and TGWU indicated
their members had now voted to accept the single status proposals
and, as you know, the majority of UNISON members had voted to accept
the proposals in our recent ballot. This means that Aberdeenshire
Council is now at the stage of implementing the single status proposals.
The Council will shortly be writing to all employees - firstly,
to tell staff about the process and what to expect and secondly,
to give all employees information about the change of contract and
what pay and benefits will apply to each member of staff.
It is intended the new proposals will be introduced the week beginning
1 June 2007 and if your pay is going up under single status this
will be backdated to 1 January 2007. All other changes including
terms and conditions, that is weekend working, overtime, etc will
take effect from 28 May 2007.
There is still some work to be done and UNISON will continue to
work on your behalf. We are well aware that some members are unhappy
about the proposals and over the coming months we will continue
to work with you to try to reach satisfactory solutions.
UNISON intend to continue to keep you up to date with the changes
as they happen and we will give you help and support as you need
it, particularly regarding changes to your contract and the appeals
process.
