Single status appeals likely
"Surgeries" to be held

As new contracts are issued to council employees and single status comes into force in Aberdeenshire, the Branch is bracing itself for a high number of appeals by members.

The appeals procedure was negotiated by the trade unions and have been sent out with contracts along with a form to register your appeal. The appeals process will ensure that members who believe they have been wrongly mapped will have an opportunity to have their jobs re-evaluated using the 13 factors to make sure that they have been scored correctly.

“Many staff are unhappy with their mapping and are likely to register appeals,” said Inez Teece, Assistant Secretary. "At this stage all you have to do is complete the council's pro forma and return it to them by 30th Sept 2007." She reminded members to copy their appeal registrations to the Branch as soon as they submit them, with their membership no. on the back.

Call for more stewards and contacts
“This is likely to be a busy time for the branch and we are keen to find members willing to act as stewards and workplace contacts. We will make sure that training and support are provided along with time off for union duties,” said Bob Revie.
