AGM 2025 dates
|
Aberdeenshire UNISON would like to invite all our members to join us at one of the above AGM meetings.
What is an AGM and why should you come along?
UNISON is an organisation controlled by its members; it is the members that set the direction for the work for the coming year. Each year each branch of UNISON is required by our rules to hold an AGM, to elect representatives for the year and to set the activities planned for that year, as well as reporting on the work that has been done for the past year. All of us in the branch are just like you, employees of one of the employers we organise in. We are volunteers that have stood up to help our colleagues as best we can.
We are aware that many people will see an AGM as something they are not interested in and there is nothing for you at it. But have you ever wondered what you get for your membership fee? Have you ever wondered why we do or do not do something? Have you ever wondered how pay settlements are negotiated and reached? The answer to all of these questions is available at the AGM and much more.
The Agenda, Officer/Steward Nomination List, Annual Reports and Motions for the AGM can be found below.

The AGMs
Aberdeenshire UNISON has one large employer Aberdeenshire Council and many other employers predominantly within the Community and Voluntary sector in Social Care, the largest being Cornerstone.
Each of the meetings will cover general issues to deal with branch requirements but will concentrate on specific issues relevant to each of our areas.
Tuesday 18th 12-2pm (online)
This will be a meeting concentrating on issues within Aberdeenshire Council and Local Authorities, including pay, service reductions and potential for job losses.
Wednesday 19th 6.30pm-8.30pm (in person meeting) Fly Cup, Burghmuir Circle, Inverurie (please note change of venue)
This meeting is in person a buffet, tea/coffee will be available.
This is a chance to meet your representatives and will be a more general meeting covering all our activities including our work on promoting equalities, Health and Safety as well as the issues of pay and the situation in workplaces.
Thursday 20th 6.30-8.30 pm (online)

This will concentrate primarily on issues within our CVS sector and the issues within social care. We will look at the work being undertaken by UNISON nationally and locally to address the issues facing workers and our members. Jennifer McCarey will be speaking about the work she is leading to organise within the CVS sector and the issues being addressed.
Please feel free to join one of the meetings, find out what we do and how we can work with you to make all our working lives better. Aberdeenshire UNISON has been and is a successful and vibrant branch, recognised in Scotland as a steady successful branch, recruiting and fighting for its members. Come along and be part of that success.
Elections will also be held if any positions are contested.
If you have skills or interests, why not think of volunteering as a steward or officer, or even if you are the person at work that always speaks up, we would love to have you along. Most of us were that person once and found the training, the skills and the friendships something we loved.
The skills you learn help with future careers and can build the confidence you may think you are lacking.
We are particularly keen to hear from our members that could belong to one of our Self Organised Groups (SOGs)
· Young Members- any worker under 30
· Disabled Workers
· Black Workers
· LGBT+ Workers
· Women Workers
· Retired Members
UNISON uses the social/self-identification for its self-organised groups. Each self-organised group is a forum to share experiences and views and to build organisation amongst people like you and to shape policy within UNISON going forward both local and nationally.
Please attend one of the AGMs, bring a friend and together we will go from strength to strength
