Local government pay ballot closed

The local government pay ballot which opened on 12th April, closed on 28th April. If you are a UNISON member in local government, hopefully you voted and had your say on council pay.

Read the unions pay claim and the COSLA pay offer here:

Branch secretary, Inez Kirk said,”Please return your ballot. We are calling for a rejection of this offer but the most important thing is that all our members have their say.

“We believe our members deserve better. Local Government and its workforce must no longer be the poor relation in public services. From caring for the most vulnerable in society, to supporting Covid prevention measures, Local Government workers never stopped working.

“Our members have been providing essential, preventative and life saving services throughout the pandemic without a break.  Many of them have worked beyond their normal hours and in difficult circumstances to continue with the provision of essential services in the communities in which they live, work and serve.

“We fully support the pay rise offered to our colleagues in the NHS and the COVID reward payment they have received – it is well deserved. But our members in local councils deserve it just as much.”
