About us

UNISON is the trade union representing staff in the Aberdeenshire Council and amongst various voluntary sector organisations and other public sector employers.

Although we are called Aberdeenshire, we have members throughout Scotland. This is because employers, such as Cornerstone, Inspire and the Food Standards Agency operate Scotland (or UK) wide and all their employees who wish to join UNISON have been placed with us. (See more information here)

We negotiate for better pay and conditions, help individuals in trouble and campaign for a safer, fairer society. UNISON is Scotland’s biggest and liveliest trade union, representing 150,000 members delivering public and related services across Scotland and more than 1.3 million people across the UK’s public services. (See more about branch activity here)

If you have a problem, talk to your local steward. If they can’t handle the problem on their own, they can talk to other branch officers or full – time union experts on your behalf. Anyone can face problems at work sometimes but if you are a member of UNISON, you don’t have to face them alone. See also ‘Need Help?’
