Branch activists, Temi Olayinka and Taiwo Ilori attended a busy and informative STUC Women’s School on 22-23 August.
The women only event, held at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Clydebank, focussed on helping women to feel more confident to speak at conferences and other trade union events and to write motions.
Branch retired member and STUC Women’s Committee delegate tutored on the course for the third year running.
Temi said, “I really enjoyed the Women’s School. I feel so much more confident about public speaking and motion writing and I’m looking forward to putting it into practice in the near future.
“I learned so much about how best to get my message across and the school took us through everything we need to know about how to prepare and present a captivating speech. The Mock Conference on day 2 was educative and insightful, and gave me an opportunity to see what we’d learned in practice.”
Taiwo added, “I was so happy I came on this course. I really enjoyed meeting other women and I learned a lot. The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was welcoming. I would definitely recommend it for other women.”
