All Branch members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Aberdeenshire Branch of UNISON on 1st or 14th February 2018. There are three venues and times to enable you to attend.
- 1st February from 1700 – 1900 at the UNISON Office in Glasgow
- 14th February from 1200 – 1400 in Woodhill House, Aberdeen and from 18.30 – 2100 in the Kintore Arms, Inverurie.
The Agenda, Officer/Steward Nomination List and Motions for the AGM have been sent out with your email invites or for those who do not have an email address registered with the branch, through the post. Please watch out for these or contact the Branch Resource Centre if you don’t receive them on 01224 620624.
There are contested branch elections this year as we have received more than one nomination for the Branch Secretary post. A full postal ballot has been issued to members with hustings 30 minutes before each AGM.These begin at 12 noon in Woodhill House and 6.30pm in the Kintore Arms, Inverurie.
Branch secretary, Inez Kirk said, “Whether we work for Aberdeenshire Council, a related employer or the voluntary sector, we have all had the challenge of change.
“Terms and Conditions, Pay, Pensions and the impact of Service Reviews have been the major issues we have faced.
“The key component for defending all these issues is membership participation, so we would urge you to attend the AGM and hear what UNISON is doing locally and nationally and be part of our decision making process.”
The guest speaker this year is Heather Wakefield, National Officer, who will speak on her work in local government and citizenship.
Kate Ramsden, Branch Chair added, “The AGM is your chance to have your say on the issues of the moment and gives you a chance to raise issues or discuss concerns with Branch Officers.
“We very much hope that you will come along and look forward to seeing you there.”
A buffet and refreshments will be available at each venue and members of the Branch Committee will be on hand to answer any questions or just to chat.
