The branch has been receiving a great many calls about personal protective equipment (PPE) and wants to reassure every one of our members that we have heard your complaints and queries and we have acted to highlight these with employers, CoSLA and the Scottish Government.
Writing on the branch Facebook page, Inez Kirk, Branch Secretary said, “These issues have been raised with the utmost urgency not only within the Council, the Health and Social Care Partnership and other employers, but also with COSLA and the Scottish Government.
“All have committed to continue working with us to ensure you have the equipment you need to do your job but to also feel safe whilst working. No one should feel unsafe doing their work.”
Inez added that the branch has also had many queries about redeployment to other roles, often within the care sector.
“Staff are understandably concerned not only about themselves but their families, service users and the public at large. Again we are working closely with the council on this matter, ensuring that expectations of our members are reasonable and that you receive the training and supervision you may need.
“These are extraordinary times and there are many new scenarios arising every day. Everyone is uncertain and wary of what is to come. Rest assured we are working hard answering your queries so please don’t suffer in silence we are here to help.”
As soon as the branch has answers we will try to make sure they are on our website and on our Facebook page.
Inez concluded, “So an enormous thank you to each and every one of you for all the work you are doing. Don’t hesitate to ask questions in the usual way, we will get back to you.
“Take care!”
