Statement from Inez Kirk Branch Secretary on the Aberdeenshire Council decision to outsource sport, leisure, culture and libraries to a Trust.
Today (23rd November 2017) Aberdeenshire council debated the proposal to set up an Alternative Delivery Model(trust) for sport and culture.
Despite our efforts, the council decided to proceed.
This means that leisure centres, libraries museums and other culture and leisure services will all be transferred to an independent trust, who will receive money from the council to run these services.
Staff will also transfer.
The branch did ask the council to delay this decision along with various staffing and service protections.
