Dementia Awareness Workshops – open to all members – sign up now

UNISON Scotland Member Learning provides training on a range of topics that is available to all UNISON members. Such training can be very useful for job roles as well as for wider interest.

There is availability on the following online Dementia Awareness Workshops which will be delivered by a specialist Training provider.  These workshops are ideal for those working in Social Care or who have friends/relatives with the condition and want to understand more about it.

The Course will include the following

Introduction to Dementia – explore what the term dementia means and will consider the different types of dementia and what the causes of these may be.

* Diagnosis of dementia- how a diagnosis of dementia may take place, the different types of assessments and checks that can be done

 * Effects of dementia – consider the effects of dementia on the individual, as well as carers, family and friends.

 * Effects – consider the changes that types of dementia can bring about and the symptoms that these changes can cause.

 * Living with dementia – what happens once a diagnosis of dementia has been made and what interventions may form part of an individuals care and support plan.

* Dementia care – explore what strategies can be used to care for and engage with individuals who have dementia so that they are able to live well with the condition.
