Festive greetings and a peaceful New Year to all our members

….and especially to those working to keep Scotland’s essential services going over the holidays.

Thousands of public service workers will be at work delivering Scotland’s essential services over the festive holidays.

In councils and the community and voluntary sector, many of our UNISON members will be working to ensure we are looked after and communities are kept safe.

Others will have worked hard throughout the year and will be enjoying well deserved time off.

Whichever group you are in, as your union branch we want to thank you for all you do and to pladge that we will continue our efforts to ensure that the valuable work you do is recognised, valued and rewarded.

Branch secretary, Inez Kirk’s Christmas message of thanks to branch members as she looks back over a very busy year.

I want to take this chance to thank each and every one of you for all the work you have done over the past year.

Aberdeenshire UNISON has gone from strength to strength thanks to all the work you have done.

Our members on all sections of public service have had a service second to none thanks to all your hard work and dedication.

Our activists and staff working with CVS and Cornerstone have stood up and fought for our members, highlighting bad practice in some employers and fighting for decent pay and conditions. You make our members lives better and you should all be proud.

In local government we have had a massive year. Achieving our third consecutive successful industrial action ballot and successful action leading to an improved pay offer, it’s not perfect but a starter on eradicating low pay in councils.

Members have been represented by their hundreds and each of you has done their bit in showing Aberdeenshire UNISON is the branch for public sector workers.

I give my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you, together we are a team to be reckoned with, respected by employers and amongst UNISON colleagues. We may be a small branch in the North of Scotland, but we are a force to be reckoned with, all thanks to all of you.

I hope each and every one of you has some rest and recuperation over the Christmas break and that you get time to spend with those that mean most to you.

Take care and I will see you all in the new year where we will no doubt do it all again.

Thank you

Inez x
