Hurry and sign up for bus to COP26 and get along to pre COP rally in Aberdeen

The branch is calling on as many members as possible to join the COP26 march and rally in Glasgow on 6th November 2021 and the pre-COP rally in Aberdeen on 23rd October.

If enough members wish to go to Glasgow, the branch will run a bus to the event. We are asking anyone wishing to travel to this vitally important CO26 event, to let the Grampian Resource Centre know by Monday 25th October, by emailing grampianresourcecentre@unison.co.uk

The bus will leave from  Inverurie market place 7am and Albyn Place Aberdeen 7.30am on Saturday 6th November to take part in the march and rally in Glasgow from 11am to 4.30 pm.  We hope to arrive back for 9pm.

There will also be an event in Aberdeen on 23rd October in the lead up to COP26 and we are urging all our members to attend this event if you can’t make it to Glasgow or as well as the Glasgow event.

The rally will take place from 11.45 am to 2.30pm pm on Saturday, 23rd October outside Marischal College.
Branch co-chair and Green Champion, Steve Gray said, “Please get along to hear speakers and music. Food will be provided by Food not Bombs. Come and show your support for more radical change to deal with Climate Change. Be part of a local national and international movement. Find out about actions taking place in Glasgow and sign up for bus going to Glasgow on November 6th.

“Please wear a face mask and social distance!”Steve added,  “Scottish and UK trade unions are supporting the call for rallies and events to demand urgent action from the leaders of the worlds countries to halt the Climate Emergency which is devastating the homes and livelihoods of people across the world.  As you can see on the news the Climate Emergency conference is called COP 26 and it is being held in Glasgow in November.

“The Scottish trade unions are marching under the banner climate, jobs, justice but please bring along your own placards and banners giving your message to world leaders and the global media.

“There will be more updates from UNISON Scotland, the STUC  and other partners in the next few weeks which will be shared on the branch website. .

“Covid safety precautions will be in place for both on the coach and in Glasgow.  This will include taking a lateral flow test before leaving home, social distancing, wearing masks on the coach, during the march and possibly the rally.”
