UNISON proudly celebrates Black History Month in October every year. It is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of Black people throughout history.
This year, Aberdeen City UNISON along with UNISON Aberdeen University Branch has organised a free event to celebrate Black history.
It will be held in Elphinstone Hall, University of Aberdeen on Friday 30 October from 10am to 4pm and is open to all.

Experience African, Asian and Caribbean foods, celebrate culture, build connections and honour Black History Month. Everyone is welcome.
This event brings people together to honour the achievements, cultures and contributions of Black communities while celebrating the rich heritage of African, Asian and Caribbean traditions.
Through food, music, dance and community engagement, attendees will have the opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Whether you are attending with friends, family, colleagues or on your own, everyone is welcome to share in this celebration of culture, diversity and unity.
Black History and Black British History in particular, is often marginalised.
So Black History Month is a key time to acknowledge achievements and provide an opportunity to discuss wider issues affecting the Black community.
UNISON has long campaigned and is proud to support Black History Month. But our commitment to inclusion and equality lasts a lot longer than four weeks each year.
It goes deep into the heart of our union.
