Talking compassionately about mental health challenges: Ending stigma, developing healthy relationships – 9th June at 6pm

The branch is hosting an online event on mental health and challenging the stigma around it.

Organised by Disabled Members’ Officer, Donna Scott and Equalities Coordinator, Kathleen Kennedy, the event will be held on 9th June at 6pm, with a presentation from Professor John Swinton who is local to the North East of Scotland.

Kathleen said, “Mental Health affects us all in some way or another throughout our lives. Professor Swinton was a Mental Health Nurse in Cornhill but also worked for many years in Woodlands Hospital, and although now he is an academic, he remains involved with all disabilities.

Donna added, “During this evening Professor Swinton will speak about mental health challenges and ending stigma around it. Like all disabilities, mental health is such a wide ranging area, and Professor Swinton is an excellent communicator that no matter what disability you question him on he will be able to point you in the right direction.

“During the evening we will also have a chance to hear your ideas and thoughts how to take this important issue forward.”
