School members strike ballot on pay begins today – Vote YES

UNISON Scotland is balloting members in schools on strike action on pay and calling for a YES vote.
The ballot is over a pay dispute for all council workers. The vote will close on Friday 25 August and if staff vote to strike there could be mass school closures across Scotland in September.

This comes after members overwhelmingly rejected the employers’ offer on pay for 2023/24.  No further improvements have been made, despite giving COSLA several chances to improve their offer. Therefore UNISON has initiated a full postal ballot of members in schools on industrial action.
From Tuesday 1 August, members working in schools will start receiving postal ballot papers.
If you are in the group being balloted, return your ballot paper without delay. It will arrive in a purple envelope. Please watch out for it and make sure you return your ballot paper. The recommendation is to vote YES.
