World Menopause Day 18th October – UNISON ensuring women are supported in the workplace

This Sunday, 18 October, is World Menopause Day. This day is to raise awareness of the health issues women face when approaching, during and beyond the menopause.

As the union of a million women in public services, UNISON takes the menopause seriously. It’s a workplace issue – nearly 8 out of 10 menopausal women are in work.

We will ensure that working women have all the support they need to be healthy and safe at work.

We are marking World Menopause Day with free stickers that you can order and a leaflet to download.

You can use these materials to raise awareness that menopause IS a workplace issue.

We have also updated our guidance on menopause. This includes a model policy for branches and reps to use in negotiations to highlight the issue at work.

The guidance will assist branches in ensuring that organisations consider how menopausal symptoms can impact on women, trans and non-binary people experiencing the menopause.

We have made a quiz so you can see how menopause supportive your workplace is.
