A Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year to all our members

… and especially to those working to keep Scotland’s essential services going over the holiday.

Thousands of public service workers will be at work delivering Scotland’s essential services over the festive holidays. In local councils, the health services, utilities and many other services, UNISON members will be working to ensure we are looked after and communities are kept safe.

This year, like last, these workers have had to rise to the  challenges brought by the COVID pandemic – ordinary people thrust into an extraordinary situation who have gone above and beyond to look after us during this unprecedented crisis.

UNISON is determined that their work throughout the crisis will not be forgotten – and that there will be no return to the ‘normal’ of being under-valued and under-paid.

Thank you all.

Christmas message from the branch secretary on behalf of UNISON Aberdeenshire

Colleagues it is at this time of year I send my usual message thanking each and every one of you for the work you have done in the past year.

This year is no different.

Despite the continuing issues with the Covid pandemic each and every one of you has gone above and beyond in supporting our members and the people of Aberdeenshire, Scotland and beyond.

Not only have you all supported our members with the challenges they have faced at work but also supported the communities and the population of Scotland, I am proud, we should all be, of what we have achieved in Aberdeenshire UNISON.

Aberdeenshire goes from strength to strength, showing just what a branch in the North East of Scotland can achieve, from headlining equalities to developing representation for those in the third and private sector, ensuring all have a voice in our union and society at large.

Next year looks to continue with those challenges, from the National Care service, continuing Covid and reducing budgets to name just a few but I know together we can tackle them head on and come out the other side bigger and stronger than we ever were.

I hope that you get some time to celebrate over the festive period ready to begin refreshed in the new year?

Together we can achieve anything if we all work together.

Best wishes

Inez
