On Friday 3rd December, Aberdeenshire Branch celebrated Disability History Month and launched the 2022 Year of the Disabled Worker at an online event.
Chaired by Segun Adebayo, the events was very pleased to welcome Aberdeenshire Councillor, Dennis Robertson as a speaker. We also heard from branch equalities coordinator Kathleen Kennedy and branch disabled members’ officer, Clare Taylor Brown.
They all spoke of the challenges they faced growing up disabled or in the workplace. All spoke movingly and powerfully about the work still needed to provide disabled workers with equality of access to employment and to ensure disabled children and young people have the same chances as others in schools and colleges.
All the speakers and those in attendance pledged their commitment and support for the Year of the Disabled Worker.
