Meet Robert who is working to support members in social care

Robert Allan

Robert Allan is a UNISON organiser working to support our members in the care sector.  Robert will be spending 18 months focusing on areas around Grampian having one to one conversations with members through local drop in sessions.

Robert will be providing 6 week short training sessions and open drop ins in your locality. Look out for the posters for dates:

  • Week 1 – SSSC Registration
  • Week 2 – Bullying and Harassment
  • Week 3 – Rights at work
  • Week 4 – Equality
  • Week 5 – Rotas and working times.
  • Week 6 – Understanding your pay and payslip.

If you work in Social Care? (or any friends or family do) please get along and meet him. And please watch out for these dates.

Here Robert introduces himself.

“I’m Robert and my job is to help care staff get a fairer life at work.  I’m based in Aberdeen and am talking to social care workers all over the Grampian region about how to make your working life better.  I want to help you and your colleagues make the changes you want to see.

Lots of social care workers have got concerns, and may feel isolated and worry about raising concerns.  But the same issues keep coming up in every employer, in every location.  It’s hard to change things on your own, but together we can.

Low pay, understaffing, rota changes at short notice, a lack of respect, too much pressure, not being listened to, not enough time to help service users, SSSC registration.  The list goes on.

“I’m here to talk to you in confidence – look out for the purple t-shirt!
