Equalities and Self Organisation

Kathleen is working to highlight all the different equality strands within the branch and the employers and this page will show the work that the branch is doing to promote equalities.
There is also an Equalities Events calendar which will include key equality days and months and will link to branch and wider activity around these dates.
UNISON has groups at national, regional and local level for women, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members, black members and disabled members. These groups are designed to be self-organising but also integral to the union’s structures.
The branch has run a Pathways Course to support women to become more active in the branch and in UNISON as a whole.
UNISON also has a young members and a retired members section to ensure that the interests of these particular groups of members also have a voice within the organisation.
